Why we give to much honour to Jesus. Is he God?

What is so special about him? some other prophet performed some miracles he performed too now

Is Jesus God? Let me take you down the memory lane.

The main reason God created us is for fellowship. Remember that the bible says he created us in HIS IMAGE. This is so that we (God and us) can communicate better. Do you know animals were not created in His image so they can not relate to God the way we would? Just as we have learned that sin causes separation. Adam and Eve's disobedience broke that relationship. God loves us but he doesn't not like sin.

Between the fall of man and coming of Jesus, God tried to come up with plans on how to relate with us. He used the law- Like when you do this you get this. He used the prophets to communicate with people etc. In all, He still wanted the relationship.

I have written so much, well this is to give you a background. So God devised another way. Being a perfect strategist, he used all those long period to perfect His plan. And that perfect plan is Jesus.

His coming was predicted by about 5000 prophets (according to theologians). Oh yeah, God reveals His plan to people. He revealed to Micah - in Micah 5:1-2. Zachariah in Zechariah 9v9, Isaiah in Isaiah 53..........

So the coming of a messiah was not doubted. Even other religions like Islam, Judaism, Buddhism have the coming of a messiah. Just that they don't believe that Jesus is the messiah.

Interestingly the Jews are still waiting for the messiah. So how do we know that Jesus is the messiah? All the prophecies about his birth, death, resurrection, riding on a donkey, etc came to pass. He above all fulfilled the primary mission reconcile us back to God. Blood needed to be shed. In the old testament when people commit sin, they kill a lamb to make atonement to God. In order to stop all of the need to always do that, Jesus' blood was shed.

His birth was supernatural- through a virgin, the Jewish religious scholars were astonished at His wisdom when he preached in the synagogue. Even John the Baptist identified him immediately he saw while in the wilderness.

So to the question, is Jesus God? Yes, he is. Everything was created through him and for him. John 1:1 says it. Jesus is the Word, who became flesh and dwelt with us. Jesus is the constituent 'material' by which all things were made. He is the ultimate reality Colossians 1:16

Jesus is the sustainer of the visible and invisible world. If Jesus was to 'die' the world will cease to function Hebrews 1:3. Jesus is of a higher and better species than angels (since Satan was once an angel, it means Jesus is so much better, stronger, powerful than satan) Hebrews 1:4. Jesus is a continuing priest for us today. He constantly prays for and empowers His church through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:26 and Heb 4:14. Jesus has chosen to express himself exclusively through the Holy Spirit. John 16:13

God became flesh that is because in human form. In order to feel what we feel. He cried, he had friends, he went to parties, made good friends, performed miracles. Also, Jesus was the only religious leader that resurrected. He appeared to many people, individually and in groups even to skeptics like Thomas and Jesus. This is to for people to have proof.

Jesus himself also made an exclusive claim in John 14:6 Act 4:12 as the only, only way to God. He left all of us with a promise to send the holy spirit which he did fulfill. God still didn't want to leave all alone. So even if we have doubts about these stories, the holy spirit which we can experience now is an evidence

Let me share my personal experience, I come from a family where my dad is a Muslim and mum is a Christian. We grew up following my mom to church and at a point in secondary school, I became a Muslim. But before then I had encountered God, deep within me I knew there was something supernatural. So while practicing Islam I felt like I was just obeying the law. Didn't feel what I felt while I was a Christian. I had to change back after 5 years.

Despite that I still had doubts within me, my Dad being a very intelligent man, he knows the bible well and can quote so many scriptures to make points of why Christianity isn't the way. So all of those things I have heard was just rumbling in my head while I was a Christian and even born again one. My encounter with Christ and the gift of the holy spirit changed for me. It made God more real to me.

To conclude, for as many that are already born again, please pray for that encounter, it makes God real to you. And for those who aren't this is an opportunity.
